Phonmap User Terms and Conditions
Below are short descriptions of the various packages available together with answers to the most commonly asked questions regarding these packages.
The package descriptions below refer to 'computer system' which in turn refers to both the physical hardware and the operating system together.
So two sets of computer hardware each running an identical copy of Windows counts as two different computer systems. Also the same computer hardware with two different versions of Windows, whether installed concurrently (e.g. dual boot or virtual systems) or not concurrently, counts as two different computer systems. Finally, Phonmap running in a Virtual Machine on two different physical machines counts as two different systems.
The Packages
Phonmap Personal Edition:
If you are a private individual and only need Phonmap for yourself then this
package is for you. The personal edition allows you to use Phonmap on 1 system (described as hardware plus operating system). On this system, Phonmap will run unlimited - it will not expire. Within a period of 12 months you are entitled to free upgrades as long as it is on the same computer hardware. After that, if you upgrade your system you will require a new license.
Phonmap for 5 Users:
This package is intended for small schools with up to 5 computers. With this package you can install Phonmap
on up to 5 different computers systems over a period of 12 months as long as all the systems are registered to either the same person or same organisation. See below on how to determine this. All installations will run unlimited - they will not expire.
Phonmap for 10 Users:
This package is intended for larger schools with up to 10 computers. With this package you can install Phonmap
on up to 10 different computer systems over a period of 12 months as long as all the systems are registered to either the same person or same organisation. See below on how to determine this. All installations will run unlimited - they will not expire.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the keys for Phonmap expire?
NO. Once Phonmap is activated on your computer system it will not expire.
If I re-format and re-install my computer system can I re-install Phonmap?
Yes. As long as the hardware and OS are the same you will not need a new license. If the existing activation code does not work
you can obtain a new one free of charge.
What if we need more than 10 installations of Phonmap?
You should purchase a combination of the above packages. If for example you need 15 users then the cheapest way
would be to purchase a 10-User + 5-User package. For 20 users the cheapest is 2 times the
10-User package.
Can I transfer Phonmap from one computer system to another?
If you install Phonmap on a new or different computer system then it always counts as an additional installation even if you
un-install your previous installation from your old computer system.
Why can I not transfer my old copy of Phonmap to my new system?
The initial purchasing cost of Phonmap has been kept extremely low so that hopefully anyone anywhere can afford to buy it.
However, to compensate for this initial low price, licenses are not transferable to new computers. The alternative would be to
make Phonmap transferable but sell it for 50-100€. This is the way most commercial software is sold but it would make Phonmap
too expensive for many less well off students and teachers. Also, by upgrading to a new computer system you show that you are not
in the latter category.
I installed a new operating system on my existing computer hardware. Will I need a new activation code?
If you upgrade your operating system within 6 months of purchase a re-installation of Phonmap will not require a new license. After that, a new operating system counts as a new computer system and so Phonmap requires re-installation.
For how long can I obtain keys for Phonmap?
All keys must be obtained within 12 months of the date of purchase. Multiple keys must be obtained within 6 months
of receiving your first key and no more than 12 months after the date of purchase.
How can I cancel my order and receive a refund?
If you have purchased Phonmap by mistake then please contact me immediately. If the payment has not
been accepted yet your payment will be cancelled. If your payment has already been accepted, you may still
receive a full refund for up to 14 days as long you have not requested or received an activation key. No refunds
can be issued once an activation key has been requested and sent out.
How can I determine whether 'a computer belongs to the same person or same organisation'?
Here is a general rule of thumb that can be used to determine this. Every Windows system has the following registration
details: Name, Company, Registration Key - you can check the value for your computer in your computer's 'System Properties'.
When checking to see if the computers belong to either the same person or same organisation then at
least one of these registration details should have the same value.
